Despite Christmas feeling like it was just last week, spring is now here. While you can’t expect it to get too warm – this is the UK, after all – it does mean you get to shed some layers and take those lighter pieces out from the depths of your wardrobe. After months of dressing like we’re off to the North Pole, it’s time to start afresh.
If you’re in need of some spring outfit ideas for a little inspiration, you’ve come to the right place. We’ve compiled a list of on-trend spring outfits so you don’t have to worry about looking overdressed when the seasons changed.
If you want to mix up the colour palette of your wardrobe, go for pastels. Think soft lilac, sky blue and faded greens rather than going overly bold when experimenting with spring outfits. While neon clothing has been a big trend over the last month, pastel is more appropriate for everyday wear and can be worn anywhere from the office to your favourite bar.
Power suits show off your female power, with a fabulous tailored fitting that highlights your figure. Wear one in a pastel shade with a white graphic tee tucked into the waistband, nude heels and a neutral bag for an impressively versatile outfit.
Rob’s top tip: If you’re stuck with which pastel shade to go for, consider what will suit your skin tone. For example, those with fair to medium skin look great in baby blue, lilac and pink. Those with a darker skin tone look beautiful in faded yellow and lavender hues.

Prints are all the rage, but it’s time for polka dots to step aside for something more exciting. Scarf-inspired prints are going to be a huge hit this season, with loud and proud colours inspired by vintage neckerchiefs. It may sound daunting, but experimenting with prints in your Spring outfits is a great way of creating a fashion-forward look.
When it comes to pulling off scarf prints, make sure they’re the main event of the outfit. A silky blouse and tailored trousers is a classic outfit, but the pattern adds a fabulous twist. Tuck the blouse in rather than leaving it loose to show off your shape and throw a leather bomber jacket on over the top.
When it comes to accessories, add a bit more colour to the look without going too off-kilter. Choose a colour that pops and matches part of the pattern to add some correlating elements to ensure the outfit flows nicely.
Rob’s top tip: Clashing prints can be good if you’re feeling daring, but keep it subtle with a patterned hair wrap or something similar in this case.
LOW KEY STRIPES
Probably the simplest look of all, you’ll look effortlessly stylish in these casual jeans and a nice top combo. Perfect for running errands or hosting a picnic, this type of look will keep you cosy without overheating.
Gilets are an essential transitional piece, especially during spring when the weather is notoriously temperamental. They’ll keep you warm without hiding your top away, all while oozing tasteful opulence.
Speaking of tops, you can never beat a slouchy striped tee. Cosy, casual and oh-so-effortless, they’re always bang on-trend and create a simple yet stylish outfit when paired with denim skinny jeans. A faded, distressed jean can add some edge to the overall look, but feel free to swap these out for a black pair if you prefer.
Everyone loves a fresh pair of white trainers and they’re perfect for an everyday look like this. Polish it off with a chic black tote bag and you’ll be able to check off your to-do list in style.
Rob’s top tip: Go for a top that is slightly baggy when it comes to fit – it creates an interesting contrast when paired with tight skinny jeans. Make sure you loosely tuck it in at the waist to ensure your shape isn’t hidden away, though!

Elegant, sophisticated and perfect for when the weather warms up, there’s not a lot to dislike about midi dresses. The lightweight materials used for these shin skimming dresses are cooling yet the longline style keeps you covered, making them a go-to for a multitude of occasions.
The best thing about midi dresses is the sheer amount of choice you have when it comes to shoes. Pair them with some sleek black heels for a sophisticated look that’s ideal for the office, or swap them for some white low top canvas shoes for a more casual outfit.
As mentioned, prints have been absolutely everywhere this year and have already made a huge impression on the fashion scene. Whether you go for a flattering floral dress or something more daring and geometric, the midi dress is the perfect piece for experimenting with patterns.
Complete the look with a shopper bag in a shade that matches an element of your dress.
Rob’s top tip: Make sure you choose a midi dress that ties around the waist, to accentuate your shape. If you’ve picked a loose shift dress, tie a belt around your waist instead.
Another midi trend? Yep, that’s right, we just can’t get enough of this style. This time we’ve opted for a pleated skirt, which is a piece that is undeniably on trend this year.
Midi skirts exude stylish sophistication when paired when a fitted roll neck top, which is equally as on trend. Don’t worry about looking too covered up, the waistband of the skirt will cinch you in at the waist while the fit off the top will fit your figure beautifully.
Pick a bright and colourful skirt but pair it with a neutral top in black or white. This allows the skirt to truly shine without any other brash prints stealing its thunder. If the weather is a little lacklustre, throw a slimline leather jacket over the top to stay warm while adding an extra feminine edge to the look.
Rob’s top tip: If you’re not keen on pleats, swap it for a satin slip skirt or a pencil skirt. Both are equally as on-trend and ideal for spring.
Palazzo pants are a classic piece that come back in style year after year. You don’t have to worry about them going out of style so make the investment and buy a good quality pair. Plain black is essential, but get creative with patterns and colours to step outside of your comfort zone.
When we said we like pastels, we weren’t kidding. Blue is a quintessential Spring colour and has a way of lifting black pieces to ensure the outfit doesn’t look too dark. Pair them with plain black or patterned palazzo pants for a elegantly breezy Spring outfit.
Add some dainty earrings, a soft grey bag and some strappy heels for a look that can be worn straight from work to a beer garden.
Rob’s top tip: If you’re on the shorter side, try culottes rather than palazzos. They’re shorter in length and will flatter your legs more than longline palazzos, but still have that gorgeous wide leg look.
A new season is the perfect time to get creative with your look and try something new. Whether you try out palazzo pants for the first time or opt for midi over mini, we hope our Spring outfit ideas have given you some inspiration.
